Parents share genius way they trick kids into thinking Santa is watching on CCTV

Getting your children to behave themselves isn’t by any means easy, but in the run-up to Christmas there’s a brilliant incentive you can use to keep them in line.

We all know the familiar refrain: Santa will bring you presents if you’re good, but if you’re bad you’ll get nothing at all.

Although the idea of a naughty and nice list is nothing new, mums and dads have come up with increasingly clever ways of tricking the little ones.

On Facebook, people have shared a very smart way of making kids think Santa is watching them all the time – and it’s guaranteed to spook them.

On the Man vs Baby page, several parents claim they tell the kids the smoke alarm is a Santa camera and he’s watching them constantly.

One mum said that her three-year-old "believes it wholeheartedly up to the point where he’s pointing at anything even remotely similar and proclaiming loudly that Father Christmas is watching".

Another mum confessed she takes this to the next level by deliberately setting off her smoke alarm to freak the kids out.

She wrote: "All you needed to do was point at the smoke alarm and tell him it was a ‘Santa cam’. My kid’s been semi-behaving since June try and time burning your toast with the same time he’s being a div and really scare the sh** out of him."

If you don’t want to go setting off the fire alarm to keep your kids in line, then there are actually fake Santa cameras you can buy online to make them think they’re under surveillance.

Some parents had different ideas, with one using elves to make them behave.

The mum said: "Elves.. Those pesky little things get everywhere, are stealth like in their endeavours to watch if you’re being naughty or nice and show no remorse when grassing you up to Santa. That’s my explanation to my kids…… Every unexplained noise in the house is now an elf watching…… Waiting…..".

Genius.
