Candice Swanepoel: I Feel Like 'I'm the Perfect Version of Me' After Giving Birth

Some moms would panic if they had to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show mere months after giving birth, but not Candice Swanepoel! The model opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about embracing her post-baby body on the runway.

“The second time it’s not new to you, so I was able to … take care of myself a little bit more,” Swanepoel, 30, told Us backstage at the Thursday, November 8, taping of the fashion show. “I don’t feel perfect, but I feel like I’m the perfect version of me right now with the circumstances. But I’m excited to be on the runway again.”

The longtime Victoria’s Secret Angel was pregnant during the 2017 fashion show, but the news was still private. “It was pretty incredible. Pretty surreal. I mean, it’s surreal in itself, but it was definitely an extra. I’m going to China,” she recalled. “It was a long way to travel, but it was my own little secret, you know? It was kind of like no one knew and everyone was like, ‘Oh, it’s great that you’re back.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’”

She and fiancé Hermann Nicoli welcomed son Anaca in June. The couple are also parents of son Ariel, 2.

Swanepoel also detailed getting to spend time with her fellow Angels/moms, including BFF Behati Prinsloo, who shares daughters Dusty Rose, 2, and Gio, 8 months, with husband Adam Levine.

“For me, this time is more about being with the girls and trying to catch up and enjoy being in each other’s company again. … So now it’s like girly and fun, getting ready and being able to focus on us for a second,” she noted. “Whereas before it was more — obviously it’s work, but this feels more luxurious.”
