Woman worried about boyfriend discovers devastating reason he went ‘missing’

Dating can be exciting, thrilling and have you feeling like you’re on top of the world.

But when somebody suddenly ‘ghosts’ you and won’t reply to your calls or messages, you might be left feeling like the ground has been ripped away from you.

Spare a thought for this woman, who had happily been in a relationship for years and became concerned about her boyfriend when he didn’t turn up to a date.

Worse still, she couldn’t get hold of him all weekend and was panicking he’d got into trouble.

The woman shared her tale on a reddit thread , responding to the question: ‘What’s something you found out about your S.O (significant other) years into the relationship that made you reevaluate the whole relationship?’

She wrote: "One weekend we were supposed to go out on a date and he stood me up. I couldn’t get ahold of him at all. I was freaking out thinking he was dying in a ditch somewhere!

"Turns out he had gotten married over the weekend to the girl who had given birth to his child. I never knew about them."

So not only had he been hiding a whole secret life from her, he had also scheduled a date which clashed with his wedding…

One sympathetic woman replied: "Had a vaguely similar instance. Except we lived together. He got a new job and decided I should go home for a while until his job training was over.

"Hadn’t heard from him in a few weeks and when I did, it was questionably spotty. Turns out he went on to start a family with his wife. Yeah. His wife ."

They’re not the only ones who found out horrific secrets about their partner as other reddit users also shared their heartbreaking tales.

"About one year in he told me he was about to get full custody of his son. I didn’t know he had a son," one wrote.

Another commented: "Out of nowhere, a year into being married, he said he wants to join the Marine Corp.

"He also wanted me to drop out of law school, birth babies, take care of his mother, and a run a household all while he’s deployed. Hard pass."
