A woman said she was left "crying constantly" after her husband shared his unusual suggestion for embarking on an affair.
She claims that instead of cheating behind her back, he asked her permission to sleep with another woman.
When she wasn’t keen on that idea, he shared his bizarre idea for how to make his infidelity easier on his wife – and it hasn’t gone down well at all.
The shocking admission was revealed on an anonymous Reddit thread, according to Kidspot, where the 38-year-old woman opened up about the state of her decade-long marriage.
She wrote: "Last week my husband asked if he could talk about something serious. I said ‘yes, of course’, we are always very open and honest with each other".
"He tells me that he has been very distracted lately looking at other women and he hopes it hasn’t bothered me too much"
The woman confessed she had noticed, but figured there’s no harm in looking so said it’s not an issue if it’s not too obvious.
"He asks me to tell him if I notice it again so he can stop. I say that’s not my job and tell him he can stop on his own.
"We keep talking until he blurts out that he is thinking a lot about what it might be like to have sex with someone else."
The woman now thinks the marriage is doomed to end in divorce because of his next suggestion.
Her long-term partner said he’d like to date someone new and have a fling – but was willing to have a one night stand or sleep with a prostitute if his wife prefers.
"No way. How is that fair to me or her. He offers to have a one night stand or hire an escort if it makes me more comfortable. How the f*** is that more comfortable.
"I’m crying constantly and I keep thinking this has to end in divorce."
She added that her husband even offered to legally separate and then reconnect in a few months time, but she is not happy about any of these ideas.
The pair have been together since high school, according to the wife, and she was her husband’s first.
They vowed to stay monogamous then and in their wedding vows, but her husband seems to have had a change of heart.
"He wants my blessing to f*** another woman before he turns 40. I’m angry, sad, confused. I love him to death but I think I need a divorce if he can’t be faithful."
Apparently the husband has now promised to get therapy so he can accept that he’s a one woman man for life – but his wife is still devastated.
People on Reddit had some very different thoughts on what she should do.
Some thought the heartbroken woman should interpret this as a sign her husband has likely cheated – even suggesting the relationship is doomed.
Others thought she should praise him for his honesty and that it’s only natural to be curious after 15 years, especially if you’ve only been with one woman.
