Kelly Clarkson made headlines when she credited her nearly 40-pound weight loss to a book called The Plant Paradox by Steven R. Gundry, MD, which is all about following a lectin-free diet. And now, for Amazon Prime Day, Gundry’s follow-up cookbook is available for just $18—that’s $12 off the original price of $30.

While the diet book itself is still full price (from $23), its companion The Plant Paradox Cookbook contains, as the tagline says, “100 Delicious Recipes to Help You Lose Weight, Heal Your Gut, and Live Lectin-Free.”

“It might not work for you but it worked wonders for me,” Kelly said of the diet in an interview with Extra last month, adding that she initially started it to help with an autoimmune disease and thyroid problem.

“I’m, like, 37 pounds lighter,” she added. “For me, it wasn’t really [about] the weight—for me it was that I’m not on my medicine anymore.”

Take it with a grain of salt: Good Housekeeping Institute’s Jaclyn London, MS, RD, CDN, cautions that “there are no human studies linking the dietary lectins with a harmful immune response in healthy people.”

But, if you do decide to try it out, now might just be the perfect time to order the materials. There’s also the new Lectin Free Slow Cooker Cookbook by Virginia C. Boin, now listed for just $6, down from $17.

Fall is coming, after all, and you can never have too many healthy slow cooker recipes.

While you’re at it, an earlier book by Dr. Gundry, titled Dr. Gundry’s Diet Evolution: Turn Off the Genes That Are Killing You and Your Waistline (2009), is also on sale for $11 (originally $16).
