The sky is blue, the grass is green, and avocados are expensive — these are things we know to be true. Bloomberg recently reported, though, that the notoriously high fruit prices are likely to drop soon.
There are a few reasons why avocados have gotten more and more expensive over the past year, but the main one is that all us #millennials want is #avotoast and we want it #now (during Mexico and California’s dryer seasons). Both the increased demand and the trouble with production have caused costs to double. That said, Hass (the largest supplier of avocados the the U.S.) secured a larger-than-expected supply from Mexico this month.
Said pleasant surprise caused Hass’s wholesale costs to drop a full six percent since the record-breaking high costs July saw. Per Grub Street, next year’s prices are likely to drop even more because it’ll be a better production year anyway.
TL;DR: ALL ? THE ? GUAC ? PLS.
