What is Princess Eugenie's Instagram handle and why is she allowed to have social media accounts?

But Princess Eugenie has a popular Instagram account with over 300,000 followers, here's why…

What is her Instagram handle?

The bride-to-be's Instagram handle is unsurprisingly, 'princesseugenie'.

The art expert is a fan of a throwback snap, and often posts old pictures of herself and her family.

The young royal displays a sense of humour too with her candid captions.

Why is she allowed to have social media accounts?

At the moment, Princess Eugenie is the only member of the Royal Family who has a social media account which isn't controlled by Kensington Palace.

Princess Beatrice has a Twitter account, but it isn't run by her.

And most of the other Royals' updates are revealed via the Kensington Palace or the Royal Family Twitter.

The reason behind Eugenie being allowed to have her own Instagram is likely to be because she's not a working royal.

Unlike Meghan Markle, Eugenie's main role isn't to serve royal duties, and therefore isn't managed as much by Kensington Palace.

Princess Eugenie works full-time as an associate director at a London art gallery called Hauser & Wirth, and doesn't fulfil royal engagements in an official capacity.

Her sister, Beatrice also works full time, and it's likely that she could have and run her own social media accounts if she wished to.

Eugenie joined Instagram on March 8, 2018, International Women's Day.

Her first post was a video where she talked about her diagnosis and treatment of spinal condition, scoliosis.

She had spinal fusion surgery at age 12, and has since lived with two metal rods in her spine.

The post's caption read as so: "I can think of no better day than today, International Women’s Day, to launch my personal Instagram.

"I hope to use this platform to share the causes, passions and people close to my heart."
