Less than 24 hours before her much-anticipated royal wedding to wine merchant Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie (the first cousin to Prince William and Prince Harry) was seen in London with a brand new auburn hair color. Before this major (and honestly unexpected) switch, Princess Eugenie had been wearing her hair in a brunette shade with warm highlights as of late, one that was strikingly similar to Kate Middleton’s hair color.

Of course, there’s no news on why Princess Eugenie decided to go full redhead for her wedding (well, no new… yet), but it very well could be a nod to her mother Sarah Ferguson’s famous fiery red hair color, and with this auburn shade, Princess Eugenie could seriously be Fergie’s twin.
It also could just be a color that Princess Eugenie likes, as she’s worn various versions of red over the years.
Regardless, this sneak peek at her wedding day beauty glam is rather surprising, especially when you consider how under wraps Meghan Markle’s bridal hair and makeup looks were kept before her big day to Prince Harry.
One thing is for sure, though: Princess Eugenie’s hair color will look great with a tiara.
