From pork chops to cider fondue, embrace your love of cider with Blur star Alex James' boozy autumnal recipes

There's plenty of reasons to invite friends round for the Park Life star's boozy fondue (but you'll have to do a forfeit if you drop the bread!)

Pork chops with white beans, apple

(Serves 4)

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 25 minutes

Cals: 695/Sat fat: 22g

  • 2tbsp olive oil
  • 4 pork chops
  • 80g butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 medium apples
  • 75ml cider
  • 1tsp runny honey
  • 2 x 400g tins cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 100ml single cream
  • Handful chopped chives and cider gravy

If you drop your bread in the cheese, you have to do a forfeit!

Cider fondue

(Serves 4)

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 25 minutes

Cals: 395/Sat fat: 19g

  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and cut in half
  • 200ml dry cider
  • 350g mix of mature Cheddar, mild Cheddar and Lancashire cheese
  • 1tbsp cornflour
  • Pinch mustard powder
  • 1tsp Worcestershire sauce

To serve:

  • 1 baguette, cut into shards
  • Pickled gherkins
  • Silverskin onions
