The fashion-forward actress is known for her enviable style, but divided viewers after arriving at the annual awards ceremony in an all-white suit – and one fan has even suggested the star "dressed like a head mistress".
The 30-year-old's two-piece ensemble was by European designer Ralph & Russo, and featured a fitted blazer with sparkly lapels.
Blake paired the jacket with a buttoned-up crisp white shirt.
The snug blazer was contrasted with a pair of dramatic, oversized culottes with pleated sides and a wide-leg fit.
And while some fans have praised the actress for her bold look, others have slammed Blake for dressing "like a head mistress".
One user took to Twitter to gush about Blake's power suit, and said: "Blake Lively does a suit better than anyone. Man or woman."
While another impressed viewer asked how they could get hold of the all-white ensemble for their wedding.
"Can we talk about Blake Lively at the VMAs tonight and how am I going to wear that outfit as my wedding dress," they wrote.
One user thanked Blake for "actually wearing clothes" to the star-studded event.
But despite the praise, others were less than impressed, with one user asking: "Why does Blake Lively look like Ellen?" And another questioning whether Blake's stylist would be getting fired.
One viewer even tweeted: "I need Blake Lively to dress a bit younger to the #VMA…Like this isn't the Oscars…"
Although the outfit has provoked mixed reactions, it's unsurprising that the actress chose to grace the red carpet in yet another power suit.
Over the last week, Blake has been out and about promoting her new movie, A Simple Favor – which will be released in the UK in September.
And since Friday, she's worn SEVEN different suits, in various colours and patterns and by an array of designers, including a neon green Versace number and a Roland Mouret multicoloured trouser suit.
As one Twitter user pointed out, Blake "could wear a rug and still look stunning".
