Viola Davis could only last two days on ridiculous cleanse

Viola Davis learned quickly that insane cleanses and real life don’t mix.

While shooting her new movie, “Widows,” a makeup artist challenged everyone to a bizarre 28-day cleanse, the Academy-Award winning actress told Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday.

“We had to meditate every day and do other stuff,” Davis, 53, told the “Tonight Show“ host. “And we couldn’t eat. Well, we could eat. But we couldn’t chew and we couldn’t suck. So we had to sip all of our food because sucking and chewing was an act of aggression. And it was about completing everything. Living in forgiveness. … I want to release my anger.”

Davis said she was excited to try it out, but her husband of 15 years, Julius Tennon, didn’t think it was a good idea.

“My husband was like, ‘Why the hell would you want to do something like that, V!? I ain’t never seen you miss a meal. I don’t know how the hell you gonna do something like that,’” Tennon told Davis. “I said, ‘Julius this is going to be a game changer for me.’”

Fast forward to day two of the cleanse and Davis is relaxing in a jacuzzi when she gets a call from her niece.

“She pissed me off so damn bad. Went upstairs, ate a hamburger. Went to the drive-thru at McDonald’s,” Davis said of giving up. “Couldn’t drink alcohol – had a big thing of vodka and soda water and lemon.”

The next day back on set, Davis confronted the makeup artist and said the cleanse wasn’t working for her.

“I said, ’I don’t have time for this! I need my anger. I got a chip on my shoulder. I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder and it works for me. Because if I don’t let this stuff out, I’m going to blow up,’” she said.

Davis didn’t say if the rest of the cast and crew survived the cleanse.
