‘It was a rock band. We were the 12-year-old version of Extreme.

‘There were a lot of bad moves. There was a lot of getting people to clap. I distinctly remember thinking: ‘I am not cool in this moment. This is not a cool year for me,’ the starlet, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor continued.The video saw a younger Lorde with her band from Belmont Intermediate in Auckland, performing Rainbow’s Man On The Silver Mountain and Edie by The Cult.

The resurfacing of the clip comes shortly after a Lorde impersonator took to the stage, at Monday’s No Lights No Lycra dance party in Auckland. Partygoers were duped into thinking they were witnessing the singer-songwriter perform her latest single, until she took to Twitter from London to declare reports of the gig to be ‘deeply fake news but quite cute’.

Fans were initially delighted as a’ super ultra special guest’ came on stage and performed Lorde’s newest single Green Light.

The performance took place in ‘total darkness’ at the weekly No Lights No Lycra dance party, at Auckland’s Grey Lynn Library.

Fans were quick to take to social media to boast about their luck at attending the secret gig. However the hoax was soon revealed, as Lorde took to Twitter.’Deeply fake news but quite cute lol,’ she wrote.Twitter users found hilarity in the situation.

‘More like No Lights No Lorde lololol (sic),’ wrote one user.

While another commented: ‘Name a more iconic Auckland hoax than @lorde performing (not performing) at No Lights No Lycra’.

Lorde also confirmed her location via Instagram on Monday.

‘We in London and I got my creme egg beeetch (sic),’ the songstress shared on the social media site.

Lorde was seen in what appeared to be a dressing room, biting into a chocolate.

Sporting a fluffy white robe, her dark locks were pinned back on one side with a series of pins.
