Former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, 95, has become such a big fan of Barbra Streisand that he decided to call her and tell her.
Bob’s wife, former Sen. Elizabeth Dole, recounted the exchange in a chat with The Post: “I recently walked into our home after a day of work to hear Bob’s staff saying, ‘Shhh, he’s on the phone with Barbra Streisand!’ . . . While recuperating at home” — Bob is wheelchair-bound — “the last several months, Bob’s been asking his Amazon Alexa, his other new best friend, to play Barbra on a continuous loop,” she explained. “Inspired by her music, he decided to try and reach her by phone just to tell her so.”
They spoke for 31 minutes “about everything from their favorite songs to their dogs,” Elizabeth said.
