Shawn Mendes Teams With Teddy Geiger For ‘Under Pressure’ Cover

Shawn Mendes has teamed up with Teddy Geiger to release an acoustic cover of Queen‘s 1981 hit “Under Pressure,” originally a duet by David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.

“I am so honored to be able to support the amazing legacy of Freddie and Queen by doing a cover of one of my favorite songs,” Mendes said in a statement. “It was so exciting to me to be able to do this with my close collaborator and one of my best friends, Teddy Geiger, for a cause that is very close to our hearts.”

The song is part of a series of Queen covers set to be released in advance of the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. However, the song will not be part of the official Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack. Universal Music will be releasing three Queen covers from various artists in support of the film.

A portion of the profits from the “Under Pressure” cover will be donated to Mercury Phoenix Trust, which was founded by Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor after Mercury’s death to help fight AIDS worldwide.
