But Sam Faiers has now revealed that she ‘felt pressure’ to give birth to a boy, as her husband Paul Knightley had been desperate for one.

The former reality star, 26, admitted in a candid interview with Channel Mum that her partner had ‘really really wanted a boy’, telling her while she was pregnant: ‘As long as I’ve got my son you can have five girls.’

In the chat on motherhood, Sam discusses the issue of gender disappointment in new parents – and advised mothers-to-be to keep their baby’s sex a secret.

She began:  ‘Some men really want boys and the mum feels under pressure as if it’s their fault. But when that baby is born whether it’s a girl or a boy the dad is unconditionally going to love that baby anyway.’

Drawing on her own experiences however, the beauty went on to confess that Paul had been one of these men – and that she had felt ‘pressure’ to provide him with the son he wanted.

She went on: ‘Paul really really wanted a boy, and he was like ‘as long as I’ve got my son you can have five girls’ and I was like ‘oh god pressure’.’

Yet, she confessed that once the baby came it had not mattered whether their tot had been a girl instead of their beloved Paul Tony, as the joy of welcoming a child into the world is so overwhelming.

She explained: ‘But when I gave birth, girl or boy at that moment it would not have mattered in the world because the baby is there and it’s healthy.’

Despite keeping the sex of Paul Tony a secret until he was born, Sam confessed her motherly instincts had told her she was going to have a boy.

‘I kept the sex of my baby a surprise, but I knew it was going to be a boy,’ she gushed. ‘I would have been so surprised if I had a girl.’

‘I was convinced, I just had a feeling. All those old wives tales, the strings, the Chinese chart, I did it all and it all came out to be a boy, but even before doing that I just knew.’

Often taking to social media to share sweet snaps of their baby boy, Sam even went on to film her own reality show, The Mummy Diaries, which documents her life and struggles faced as a new mother.

Talking to MailOnline last month however, the beauty admitted life as a working parent can be difficult as she feels ‘constantly guilty’ for leaving baby Paul at home.

She said: ‘I feel guilty all the time. To be honest I didn’t do much in the first year but in recent months I’ve been busy. But when I’m in the car on the way home I’m like itching to see him. Even if it’s for three or four hours it is hard.’

Having repeatedly hinted at a wedding to Paul, Sam was then widely panned after she tried on wedding dresses with her engaged sister on the reality show.

However the Essex native was quick to insist it had all been an inside joke, affirming to MailOnline:  ‘I think him proposing is round the corner. we have the baby and its the next step for us and we’ve moved and it’s how we planned things.

‘People ask me all the time but I always say it’s not really my call. We have an ongoing joke and we look back and I say I probably did look a bit creepy. We’d rather be married before having any more kids.’
