It has been over one year since his wife passed away.
And this past weekend, Rory Feek shared a heartwarming photo of the couple’s daughter watching one of her mum’s performances.On March 2, 2016, Joey, who was one-half of the country band Joey + Roey, died of cervical cancer.’…watching baby, watching mama sing ‘In The Garden’. Heartbreaking. Healing. Hard to understand,’ wrote the father-of-three.In the snap, his youngest daughter Indiana, three, sat in a high chair, eyes focused on an iPad in front of her.A beautiful image of Rory, clad in a white, sleeveless ensemble, appeared onscreen.In an interview with Simple Grace magazine, Rory described the moment his wife asked him if he thought God would restore her health.
‘Do you think God is going to heal me?’ the then 40-year-old asked her husband.According to the magazine, it was a tough question for Rory to answer, and he wanted to be honest with his wife.’No, honey. I don’t think He is,’ he replied.
‘I didn’t think so. That’s okay,’ she said. ‘I got to experience everything I wanted to. I’m ready now.’
In May 2014 Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and was declared cancer free after receiving treatment.Over one year later in June, she became ill again and received the news that her cancer had returned and spread.Once it was revealed that no other treatment would work on the singer, the couple decided to stop all treatments.Joey passed away on March 4, 2016, and was buried on the couple’s Tennessee farm, where Rory will also be buried when he passes.
