On Wednesday, they delightedly attended a ceremony in Santa Cruz, Madeira in which the airport was renamed in his honour.
And while Cristiano Ronaldo was the man of the moment, it was his model girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez who stole the show as she put on a sensational display in jeans and a figure-hugging white blazer. The 22-year-old stunner injected a touch of glamour into proceedings as she threw her support behind her football ace beau, 33, who was the subject to much controversy after a bust baring his image was dubbed ‘horrifying’.Scroll down for video
Georgina, who has previously worked at Gucci and as a nanny, appeared to be taking perfectly to life in the fast lane as she strutted her stuff at the ceremony.Clad in eye-poppingly tight jeans she showed off her endless legs and perky posterior to perfection – with the high waist detail also showing her flat stomach.Tucked into the jeans was a simple black vest top which although basic in design helped make the most of her incredible frame.
Illustrating her flare for high fashion, the stunning star wore a structured white blazer, in the style of Balmain.Boosting her height was a pair of sky-high silver heels with a dainty strap and a teetering heel to best show off her incredible legs. She wore her raven tresses in tumbling lengths over her shoulders while falling from a centre parting while her make-up was flawlessly applied with a slick of red lipstick. Cristiano meanwhile looked incredibly sharp in a navy suit while they were joined by his son Cristiano Jnr, and his mother Maria Aveiro,.
The couple were seen on a number of dates over Christmas and have ventured out multiple times a week since going public with their romance in November.
Georgina has since paid a visit to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium, where she watched the Portuguese sportsman in action.
The footballer is rumoured to have met Georgina in the VIP section at an event hosted by Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana, shortly after ending his short lived romance with former Miss Spain Desirée Cordero Ferrer.
Prior to Georgina, Ronaldo has enjoyed a series of brief romances following his split with Russian Victoria’s Secret model Irina Shayk.
On Wednesday Cristiano was back in his island homeland, having played for Portugal here on Tuesday night followed by the ceremony.
The rebranding of Madeira’s airport, now named as ‘Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo’, has received a mixed reception but Ronaldo spoke of his pride while telling those against the move: ‘I never asked for this.’
He beamed with pride following a couple of days all about him — and was accompanied by a bronze bust of his head which now sits outside the arrivals terminal.
The airport renaming follows Ronaldo’s homecoming game with the national team, a return to Madeira’s capital Funchal — where Portugal had not played for 16 years.
Some locals, though, have expressed concerns that a landmark such as an airport should not be named after a sportsman — no matter their stature — although the move is expected to boost tourism on the island. He told an audience of hundreds on Wednesday: ‘Thank you for being here in my honour. Seeing my name being given to this airport is something very special. Everyone knows that I am proud of my country and especially my home city.
‘Thank you very much to the president of the regional government Miguel Albuquerque for having had the courage and the firmness to do it.
‘My friend, I never asked for this, but I’m not a hypocrite, and I’m happy and honoured. I know some people do not agree and I know some people who are not here would be happy for this moment. I will try to dignify Portugal and especially Madeira with a spirit of sacrifice, dignity and passion.’
