Olivia Newton-John Admits She Hired Private Investigators To Find Missing Ex In New Tell-All

Olivia Newton-John was so “incredibly worried” after her ex-boyfriend Patrick McDermott’s mysterious disappearance in 2005, she hired her own investigators to track him down, the star admits in her new memoir obtained by RadarOnline.com.

Though the U.S. Coast Guard concluded John’s on-off boyfriend McDermott had “most likely” drowned on a fishing trip off the coast of California in June 2005, the devastated singer says she called security expert Gavin de Becker for help in finding more concrete answers.

“We decided to send a couple of his private investigators to Mexico to certain places Patrick had talked about,” John writes in Don’t Stop Believin’, out now in her native Australia. “I asked Gavin if I should get on TV and do a public plea, but he advised against it.”

The investigators placed missing person posters all over Mexico, but “nobody had seen him,” she claims.

John, now 70, also says she believed McDermott could have escaped to his native Korea, though they didn’t develop any leads on the theory.

She claims the one positive that came from the situation is she grew close to McDermott’s ex-wife, Yvette, and his son, Chance.

“Yvette believes that Patrick would never have left his boy,” John writes. “I agree.”
