Mark Wright to spend even more time away from Michelle Keegan

They’ve spent most of their three year marriage apart due to their hectic careers.

And it looks like Mark Wright is even further from living full-time with his wife Michelle Keegan after he landed another new TV role.

The former TOWIE star, 31, has signed up to present Channel 5’s revival of The Bachelor and will spend weeks filming in South Africa.

The Essex-born TV star has been given off time off his role as a correspondent for US gossip show Extra to take part.

His new role means he will be spending even more time away from former Coronation Street actress Michelle, who he wed in 2015 after two years of dating.

The soap star, 31, spent most of 2016 and 2017 filming BBC military drama Our Girl in far-flung locations, such as South Africa and Malaysia.

At the time, Mark was based at their home in Essex, filming shows such as Party Wright Around The World, Strictly Come Dancing and hosting Take Me Out spin-off The Gossip.

However, the reality star-turned-presenter moved to California in August 2017 after landing the role on Extra.

A TV source told The Sun : "Mark has already had an incredibly busy year presenting on Extra.

"Now he’s getting ready to jet off again to front another show which is an amazing opportunity – but it means more time out of the country and being apart from Michelle.

"He’s really excited to get stuck in with the show though and looking forward to lending his professional dating expertise."

The Bachelor, and its spin-off The Bachelorette, is a huge success in US and is currently filming its 23rd season.

Channel 5 launched the UK version in 2011 with Gavin Henson, with now-married Spencer Matthews appearing in the last series in 2012.

Prior to settling down with Michelle, Mark was somewhat of a lothario, enjoying flings with his TOWIE co-stars Lucy Mecklenburgh and Sam Faiers , as well as a short-lived engagement to long-term girlfriend Lauren Goodger .

In July, Mark admitted it was tricky having a long-distance marriage with Michelle, but they make it work.

He told the DailyMail.com: "My wife’s not in town the whole time, she’s back and forward and I’m back and forward, so that’s not the easiest. But we make it work and it’s quite fun in certain ways because it keeps it fun that we’re constantly in different places.

"We’re young, we haven’t got kids yet, so it’s kind of easier. Obviously you’d rather be in the same place the whole time but you can’t have it all."
