MAFS’ Clare Verrall calls Instagram users ‘fakers’

‘Instagram is full of posers, wannabes and fakers’: MAFS’ Clare Verrall vows to DELETE her social media in passionate rant about Instagram models

She once criticised Married At First Sight producers for allegedly using manipulative psychological tactics during filming.

Now, Clare Verrall, 32, has hit-out at users of Instagram, alleging social media has become a place full of ‘wannabees and fakers, with only a mild dusting of reality.’

On Tuesday, Clare uploaded an impassioned rant about the app and promised to stop using it for an unspecified period of time.

‘I have decided to have a little social media break. So I have simply deleted the Instagram app & deactivated my Facebook,’ she wrote next to an image emblazoned with the words: ‘Instagram, and why I’m taking a break.’

She went on: ‘To me, Instagram has increasingly become a place full of posers, wannabes and fakers, with only a mild dusting of reality.’

She then took a swipe at protein powder-peddling Instagram ‘models’, writing: ‘I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of being sold protein powders by chicks who in reality, never go to the gym, and use other powdered substances to maintain their physic (sic).’

Mimicking a typical sponsored product post, she added: ‘I stick a light in my mouth to whiten my teeth, so should you!’

Clare then delved into her personal life, describing her unhealthy obsession with ‘likes’ and Instagram followers.

‘When that number goes down, I wonder what I did wrong & why less people have decided to validate my existence,’ she confessed.

‘I admit, I narcissistically watch the ‘likes’ on a photo I posted & have been guilty of deleting a photo as it didn’t get enough ‘likes’. WTF? WHY AM I DOING THAT??’

The Married At First Sight starlet asked why everyone had become ‘obsessed’ of what she perceived to be a ‘fake’ world of social media.

‘Instead of being present, we have started to live through our phone screens,’ she theorised.

Clare came to the conclusion that while the world wasn’t as pretty as it’s depicted on Instagram, ‘life’s many imperfections are what make it so much more beautiful.’

‘Nothing is perfect, even with a sepia filter,’ she added.

She’s so far held true to her promise of a social media ‘break’ since the photo was posted on Tuesday.
