Kim Kardashian knew her marriage to Kris Humphries was a bust long before their notorious 72-days were up — and she also knew that she’d rebound pretty quickly with Kanye West, who she says was “heartbroken” at the sight of her wedding ring.
“You know, I f—ked up, and went a different direction, and realized that I f—ked up pretty soon,” Kardashian, 37, admitted in an interview with Big Boy on Real 92.3 FM on Thursday.
The reality maven revealed that West, 41, was crushed at her marriage to the NBA star.
“What was crazy was — I’ve never told this story before — so I’m presenting an award, and Kanye was nominated. So I see him backstage, we end up both at the Soho House, and he sat at my table, and I had my big ring on, because I was married. So, I’m talking with my ring, and I talk with my hands a lot, so I’m talking and I just see him looking at my ring, and his face would just like, get heartbroken,” she recalled. “So I sat on my hand for the rest of the dinner and spoke … with one hand.”
“I guess [West] and his best friend had a convo, and he was like, ‘Dude, like, we’re at a restaurant together. She just got married two weeks ago,’” she continued. “Nothing went down, nothing happened, but then I went to New York and started filming and I was like, ‘You’re right, I’m miserable. I made the wrong decision.’ ”
Kardashian and West began officially dating in April 2012, six months after she filed for divorce from Humphries.
West and Kardashian have since tied the knot and had three children together, the eldest of which, North West, was curious about her mom’s claim to fame.
“[North asked me] ‘Mom, why are you famous?’ ” Kardashian, who infamously became a household name after the release of her sex tape with ex Ray J, said. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, okay, I’m gonna have to explain this now.’ ”
Kardashian dodged the question, telling the 5-year-old, “‘We have a TV show.’ And she was like, ‘Oh! Okay!’”
