His more passionate fans see him as something of a stud.
So it was only natural Jared Leto would take a stab at looking edgy by wearing a bespangled denim jacket as he promoted Blade Runner 2049 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Sadly for the self-styled rock star, the brains behind the group Thirty Seconds To Mars, his stylistic approach was somewhat undercut by the fact it was decorated with a cloud and sky motif.
The bearded 45-year-old completed his look with a white top black trousers, trainers and a beanie hat.
But looking flamboyant is nothing new for the respected thespian, who won an Oscar for his turn as a drug-addled transvestite in Dallas Buyers Club, for he donned a variety of outrageous outfits for his turn as The Joker in Suicide Squad.
In the forthcoming film he is playing a replicant manufacturer and in one scene was shown stroking a naked android. He was joined on-stage by his shapely blonde co-star Ana de Armas and director Denis Villeneuve.
Blade Runner 2, which also features the original film’s star Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista, is to hit cinemas sooner than expected.
Taking place a few decades after the events of the first film, it is set to hit theaters on October 6 2017, months ahead of its originally planned February 2018 release.
Ryan Gosling plays the new blade runner, an LAPD Officer who works to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who disappeared thirty years earlier, after discovering a dark secret that might bring an end to humanity.
Given Deckard was, in director Ridley Scott’s opinion, a replicant in the first film, it seems understandable Harrison’s character may be trying to lie low in the forthcoming feature.
Ridley previously explained: ‘We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one.
‘Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it’s about finding him. He comes in in the third act.’
