Ballroom dancer James, 40, took to Twitter to comment on the BBC show, stating that the 58-year-old’s elderly parent ‘looked as miserable as him’ during her time in the audience.

Danny’s wife Petula Langlais was also disappointed in the CBB star’s comments as she wrote: ‘Out of order! Attacking an elderly woman who has done nothing to you! You know nothing about our personal lives! That is below the belt!!! Love and light to you.’

TV personality James defended his tweet, which has since been deleted, as he said hours later: ‘I just stated facts… said what everyone was thinking. Not attacking anyone.

Meanwhile, Strictly viewers claimed Danny was ‘undermarked’ for his Samba routine with dance partner Amy Dowden on Saturday, amid ‘bullying’ claims on his part.

Taking to Twitter in their droves, one penned: ‘@DannyJohnJules very annoyed at @bbcstrictly. Perfect performance yet lowest scores. How does that even make sense, I loved your performance it was actually dancing instead of a bloody exercise video which was total rubbish.’ (sic)

Another echoed: Okay I know Danny’s had a lot of hate this week for the Amy rumours but I liked that Samba and thought it deserved a higher score #Strictly.’

A third tweeted: ‘Some serious overmarking tonight in a not so subtle attempt to usher Danny off the show #Strictly’, while another simply wrote: ‘Danny was undermarked #Strictly’.

‘Big man’: Clearly unimpressed by his remarks, the Red Dwarf actor responded: ‘So you take the p*** out of an 82 YO woman with Alzheimers #BigMan’ (sic)

‘Out of order’: Danny’s wife Petula Langlais was also disappointed in the CBB star’s comments

But other viewers claimed Danny should be sent home after being in the bottom two last week: ‘Danny really deserves to go tonight after 2 straight weeks bottom of the leaderboard. It’d be cruel for anyone else to get knocked out! #Strictly.’

‘Danny John Jules should be in the dance off. He’s coming across a bit moody. It’s hard to put my finger on it. Needs to be more like his character on Death in Paradise’, another added.

He recently spoke on the ‘bullying’ reports as he insisted he’s ‘the victim of a vendetta’ after Amy, 27, allegedly fled their training session on Wednesday and told producers that she didn’t know if she could continue with the show.

During the episode over the weekend, the actor was told to ‘chill out’ by judge Craig Revel Horwood after he received mixed feedback for his routine to Feels Like Home.

‘She did look miserable’: TV personality James defended his criticism as he said hours later: ‘I just stated facts… said what everyone was thinking. Not attacking anyone’

After his Samba routine, Danny received mixed feedback from the judging panel and received scores of six, seven, seven and seven from the judges, which gave him a total of 27 points.

Danny hit headlines earlier this week over claims he ‘bullied’ his dance partner during rehearsals on Wednesday, and has since said he is ‘the victim of a vendetta’ in an interview with The Sun.

‘I’m a man who says what he means and means what he says, my conscience is clear over all of it. It seems to be turning into a vendetta. For some reason, some don’t want me to be successful on Strictly’, he added.

The Death in Paradise actor went on to like several supportive tweets from his fans who accused the judges of ‘undermarking’ him after he found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard, despite not making a single mistake.

Hitting a bum note: After his Samba routine, Danny received mixed feedback from the judging panel and received scores of six, seven, seven and seven from the judges, which gave him a total of 27 points

The actor was hit with allegations that he left Welsh dancer Amy in tears after he ‘repeatedly shouted and swore’ their training session earlier this week.

‘I’m a man who says what he means and means what he says, my conscience is clear over all of it. It seems to be turning into a vendetta. For some reason, some don’t want me to be successful on Strictly’, he told the publication.

But the duo set the record straight during an appearance on Friday’s It Takes Two.

They were asked by host Gethin Jones: ‘It has been a tough week of training for Danny and Amy. Been quite a lot of press about Strictly today and I know you guys would like to say a few words about it. How would you want to respond?’

To which Amy said: ‘Yeah, it’s our turn this time! Things did get a little intense the other day in rehearsals,’ with Gethin adding: ‘This was Wednesday?’

‘Yeah, but do you know what we took a half an hour break and got straight to it,’ the professional dancer continued.

‘I’ve never felt threatened or bullied by Danny. I really want to get this man to Blackpool, and then to the final.’

Making light of the situation, Gethin joked: ‘She has said the B (Blackpool) word! What about you Danny?’

With the actor adding: ‘Well, all I can tell you is that the only reason I’m here, this far, is because of Amy and I would never bite the hand that feeds me.

‘I’m more than happy; it’s probably the best dancing we have done in the last couple of days since I have been on the show. And I’m just happy to go along, she is the boss, she wears the pants. Why would I argue with a Welsh woman!’

Reports: The actor was hit with allegations that he left Welsh dancer Amy in tears after he ‘repeatedly shouted and swore’ their training session earlier this week

After the pair denied the claims on TV on Friday, Danny liked a tweet accusing the Beeb of targeting him and creating a ‘big stitch-up’.

The actor approved a tweet from a fan that read: ‘This woman [Amy] has 100% denied there is any issue between her and Danny, they make a great pair on the dance floor!’

‘In my opinion its a damn big stitch up by the powers that be! Just the BBC doing what they do best, bullying others!’

Danny also responded ‘fake news’ as he waded into a row between fans over the bullying claims.

‘She said she never felt threatened by him. So how does that equate to bullying? Don’t exaggerate things! Drama queen,’ one fan told another as they discussed the claims.

He tweeted in response: ‘#FakeNews is in the mouth of the beholder’ along with a face palming emoji.

‘Intense’: The pair dismissed the reports on Friday’s It Takes Two, although they did admit that ‘things did get a little intense’ during rehearsals

Not impressed: Following the reports, Danny has since accused the BBC of ‘bullying’ him – after it was claimed he ‘repeatedly shouted and swore’ at Strictly partner Amy

It comes after his wife Petula Langlais accused Strictly Come Dancing of ‘trying to destroy’ her husband after claims emerged that he had been ‘bullying’ dance partner Amy Dowden.

Danny’s protective wife also decided to clear up the claims as she took to her Twitter to furiously lash out at the hit BBC One dance show, accusing it of throwing her husband ‘under the bus’ and trying to ‘destroy’ him.

Petula, who has been with the actor for 17 years and has two children with him, tweeted: ‘Wow @bbcstrictlyPR @bbcstrictly are really throwing #Dannyjohnjules under that bus!… I’m in shock… Why are you trying to destroy him???’

Meanwhile, a source told The Sun that show bosses have been left ‘stunned’ by Danny’s attitude amid the claims, after he tweeted a meme of King Kong holding a distressed Ann Darrow, adding the caption: ‘My new CV…..’

A source told the publication: ‘He’s shown no remorse. It’s shocking.’

MailOnline has contacted BBC for comment.

The interview comes after Danny was reportedly issued with a ‘final warning’ by show bosses over his ‘bullying’ behaviour.

According to reports, he allegedly left his professional partner Amy in tears during training, after shouting and swearing at the dancer, who is in her second series of the hit BBC show.

Joking: The screen star had earlier reacted shockingly to the allegations, taking to his Twitter account in the early hours of Friday morning to upload a meme of King Kong

He also wrote on the micro-blogging site that his ‘conscience has never been clearer’ as he lashed out at the reports and retweeted several supportive messages.

The Sun reported Amy threatened to quit the show, while a source has told MailOnline it has been a ‘tough’ week for the pair.

Sources claimed that Amy stormed out of training this week after her partner swore and shouted at her.

‘Amy’s been crying constantly at the hands of Danny. He gets very angry in the training room and he swears and shouts at her a lot. He also makes a lot of snide comments about him being famous and her not.

After fleeing to a cafe after a tense session on Wednesday, the Welsh dancer called producers to say she did not know if she could continue, leading bosses to step in and hold a series of meetings with the acclaimed actor.

A source close to the show played down the bullying incident to MailOnline, explaining: ‘It’s been a tough week for Danny and Amy learning their challenging Samba routine.’

‘After a long day training they had a minor disagreement but they’ve put their differences behind them and were back in rehearsals today and are looking forward to performing on Saturday night’s show.’

The Sun’s insider adds that popular Amy is being supported by her fellow dancers on the show, and alleges ‘everyone on Strictly wants Danny to go.’

While there is no suggestion Danny’s arguments have got physical, in 2008 the star was ordered to carry out 120 hours community service for assaulting two dustmen, in an incident the district judge called ‘ugly’.
