Glenn Close is ‘as sexual and as eager’ as ever at 71

Glenn Close has still got it.

The actress, who Tuesday received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her role in “The Wife,” in which she plays a woman overshadowed by her husband, tells The Guardian she was excited to show the sexual side of older women in this film.

“It’s one of the great myths that you lose your sexuality as you get older,” the 71-year-old star explained.

Early in the movie, Close and her co-star Jonathan Pryce, who plays a Nobel Prize-winning writer, have a sex scene.

Close says they both came to the set prepared. “We were both thinking the same thing: ‘We’re pros, we’ve been doing this a long time. Let’s just get down to it,’” she said.

With her seventh Oscar nomination under her belt, Close is certainly in her prime.

“I feel as free and as creative, as sexual and as eager, as I ever have,” said Close, whose fourth marriage ended in 2015 after nine years. “And it’s ironic because I’m thinking: ‘How much time do I have left now?’ There are so many things I’m interested in doing. It’s one of those ironies, I suppose, that we sometimes start feeling comfortable in our own skin only late in our lives, but hopefully with enough time to benefit from it.”
