‘Demand has been overwhelming’: Ed Sheeran sells 170K tickets for three Melbourne shows in just TWO HOURS

Ed Sheeran has managed to a whopping 170,000 tickets in just two hours this Tuesday, as fans scrambled to nab a seat at one of his three Melbourne shows next year.

‘Demand has been overwhelming and we’re in serious discussions with Ed’s management about additional shows,’ promoter Michael Gudinski told News Corp.

‘Ed loves to break records and he’s been smashing them today’.

Indeed, Ed also sold out his concert at Perth Stadium on March 3 in just one hour on Tuesday, selling a huge 55,000 tickets to the first show of his Divide tour Down Under.

Last Wednesday, extra stadium shows were added in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane following pre-sale sell-outs.

This week, Ed spoke to EW about how 2015- 2016 career hiatus helped him to prepare for his Divide world tour.

‘[During the hiatus] I traveled to places that I’d been to on tour but never really got a chance to see, like Japan, as well as places that I’d never been but always wanted to, like Ghana,’ he said.

He added that his break from the spotlight proved beneficial for his fans, who he believes needed a ‘break’ from his music.

‘Going away made them even more excited when I did finally come back with new music,’ he explained.
