Drake Sets New Streaming Milestone

Drake has become the first artist to surpass fifty billion streams across all platforms. The news was confirmed in a press release from Republic Records Media earlier this week.

Drizzy also made headlines earlier this week when his latest album, Scorpion, became the first album in two years to spend five straight weeks at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

The previous best also came from Drake, whose Views topped the chart for nine weeks in a row between May 21 and July 16, 2016.

Scorpion earned 145,000 equivalent album units, including 12,000 in traditional sales, in the week ending August 2, Nielsen Music data shows.

During this period, Scorpion generated 169.6 million on-demand audio streams for its 25 tunes.

In the second position, Kenny Chesney stands far behind with his latest studio album, Songs for the Saints, earning 77,000 units.

Post Malone‘s beerbongs & Bentleys, Juice WRLD‘s Goodbye & Good Riddance, Cardi B‘s Invasion of Privacy round out the top five on the chart.
