Daniel was later found in the sewer and given a job as a ‘janitor’ for people in the Tijuana area, who were warring over the distribution of water.
Dante, the boss of the region, found an ‘S’ tattooed on Daniel’s inner lip, signifying that he was ‘a killer, trained by the C.I.A’ to fight the communists during the war.
Daniel agreed to help Dante look for his ‘water thief’ in return for a Jeep to aid his quest for Ofelia.

Furious, she called him a thug and stormed out.

Victor, who was locked up in the last episode by Dante, was desperate to escape.
Claiming to be his ‘guardian angel’ Daniel gave him some water and asked if Ofelia was alive.
Victor lied and claimed that they had fled the fire at the same time.
Guardian angel: Victor Strand was jailed by Dante and Daniel refused to help him
‘She is alive, she’s holed up in a hotel down the coast…get me out of here and we’ll take you to her, we’ll get there by morning, she’s waiting for you,’ he promised.
‘I don’t believe you…you’d say anything to save your life, you’re a snake,’ said Daniel.
‘Ofelia is dead, her father is dead and so are you,’ he added.
Nice try: Daniel didn’t believe Victor’s story about his daughter Ofelia
Daniel then savagely beat his scapegoat Efrain as Dante looked on.
He tried to gain a confession from Efrain and had an array of tools and weapons to make him talk.
Just as Daniel was about to terminate Efrain with a hammer, Lola yelled for him to stop and gave the game away.
