She left the soap in 2015 after five years and was promised that the door was always open.
But it appears Coronation Street bosses have had a change of heart, as it’s reported that Georgia May Foote’s character will be ‘killed off’ in an off-screen accident.
Georgia, 26, will not return to play Katy Armstrong and is instead expected to die in a car crash in Portugal during an episode next week, amid claims she ‘has no future in the show’.

Not coming back: Georgia May Foote is expected to leave Coronation Street for good next week, as she will be killed off in an off-screen explosion
Having left the soap in 2015, Georgia’s alter-ego Katy has been living overseas with her son Joseph.
Katy’s former partner Chesney (Sam Aston) will be shattered by the news and left feeling desperate to leave Weatherfield for Portugal.
Representatives for Georgia May Foote have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.
A spokesperson for Coronation Street has refused to comment on storyline speculation.

Off-screen: The brunette, who shares son Joseph with Chesney on screen, is thought to die while they’re in Portugal
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: ‘As Katy, Georgia was really popular with Corrie fans and had some big storylines. But bosses have clearly decided that she has no future in the soap, and have ruled out a return by killing her off.
‘You might have thought they would show such a well-known character being written out on screen but that wasn’t to be.’
A decision was made to write Georgia out of the soap in April 2014, with bosses insisting that the door was still open and she was not being ‘killed off’.
Show boss Stuart Blackburn said in a statement: ‘The decision to write out the character of Katy Armstrong is based on storyline discussions and will be one of the consequences of the current drama involving the Windass/Armstrong clan.’
‘Katy will not be killed off and the door will be left open for a possible return. We wish Georgia every success with her future career.’
On moving on from the show, Georgia said at the time: ‘I have had an amazing four years on Coronation Street; I have had some fantastic storylines and worked with some wonderful actors.
Saying goodbye: The brunette was thought to have had a door left open when she exited in 2015
‘I am very excited about what the future holds. While I will be sorry to say goodbye to Weatherfield I am looking forward to the challenge of new roles’
She added: ‘Having worked on other dramas such as Grange Hill and This Is England before I joined the cast I always knew that I would want to try other roles again in the future.
‘I am hugely grateful for the opportunities Coronation Street has given me and I am very excited about my exit storyline.’
During her break from the soap, Georgia starred on Strictly Come Dancing and found romance with her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

Catapulted by her runner-up success, she went on to begin a stage career, starring in the UK tour for Breakfast At Tiffany’s.
Her soap storylines revolved around her relationship with Chesney and becoming a teen mother at 17.
She later cheats on Chesney with Ryan Connor (Sol Heras) and after briefly reuniting with Chesney, she enjoys a brief relationship with Callum Logan (Sean Ward), with whom actress Georgia shared a real-life relationship with Strictly.
Speaking about her exit in 2015, Georgia said: ‘She should never have broken Chesney’s heart. She’s made so many mistakes.’
‘She realises she just can’t do that to Ches,’ Georgia explains. ‘She sees what a good person he is. She can’t take Joseph away from him.’
‘I don’t think that’s ever crossed her mind. To Katy, the choice has always been to go to Portugal with Joseph or not to go at all. She wants a better life for both of them.’
