Amir Khan admitted they wanted to bring a child back from The Gambia and are looking into adoption
AMIR KHAN must have been the only British boxer not to have ANTHONY JOSHUA on his mind on Saturday.
The fighter missed Anthony beat WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO at Wembley Stadium to become the new WBA world heavyweight as he was hosting a fundraising concert for orphans throughout South Asia.
In an exclusive interview from the event, held at London’s Troxy, Amir revealed plans to adopt a child with wife FARYAL.
He said: “I would love to adopt.
“I go to a lot of these places.
“When I was in Africa, I met so many young African kids and I loved them.
“I wanted to take them back home with me.
“It’s a bit tougher than that.
“There’s one boy that was really good and I said to my friend Riz, ‘I’m going to take him back home’.
“But the process is a lot harder than you think it is.”
The boxer, who runs the Amir Khan Foundation, has already commissioned an orphanage in The Gambia and now plans to build another in Pakistan.
He added: “We want to build a school, orphanage and a small little hospital in the same campus.”
The couple have two-year-old daughter Lamaisah together, but wife Faryal says they are looking into adoption.

She said: “That’s something we’ve always thought about.
“I would love to.
“There are so many orphans that need our help and in my religion it’s such a big blessing to adopt an orphan.”
Earlier this week Faryal hit out at Khan’s feuding family saying she is glad it it her he comes home to, while also telling about how this year has been the ‘lowest point’ of the boxer’s life but it has made them stronger than ever.
