Artwork by Prince Charles on display in Scotland

Prince Charles is an expert painter whose watercolors — recently exhibited in Scotland — are traditionalist and straightforward.

Ian Scott — a Scot and an art professor at Hostos Community College in The Bronx — is also in the 83rd annual exhibition by the Society of Caithness Artists.

“The prince is a great fellow,” Scott said. “He comes to Scotland every August. He likes his whiskey. He even affects a Scottish brogue.”

Scott, a dual citizen who lives in Brooklyn, has been showing in Scotland since Charles’ grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, was alive. Unlike the Queen Mother, the future King of England never buys any of the art being shown. “He shows his work, which is not for sale.”

Artistic talent might run in the Windsor family, said Scott. “Queen Victoria was a great painter.”
