This Eyeshadow Might Be $29, But It Actually Stays Crease-Free

I have a love/hate relationship with eyeshadow. Blame it on my oily eyelids: it doesn’t matter if they’re cheap, expensive, powder, or cream, most eyeshadows I try always end up creasing — even when I use a primer. Honestly, I get FOMO every time there’s a buzzy new palette that the internet is collectively freaking out over, because I figure that there’s no point in taking the time to put eyeshadow on when it’s just going to slide off in a couple of hours.

Enter Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Eye-Conic Mutli-Finish Eyeshadow Palette. No joke: it’s the one palette that’s changed my defeatist attitude towards eyeshadow. The formula is long-wear, super-pigmented, and blends like a dream. The only problem is that like most palettes, I only use about half of the shades in it.

Luckily, the brand has heard my cries and finally launched eyeshadows that come in single pots. The O!mega Gel Powder Eyeshadow ($29; sephora.com) is a gel-powder hybrid that offers just as much color payoff as the shadows in the brand’s Eye-Conic palettes, but with less fallout. They’re designed to be applied straight out of the pot with your fingers or using a brush — without having to tap the pan to get the excess shadow off of it.

The shadow’s colors were hand-picked by legendary makeup artist Dianne Kendal (who creates Marc Jacobs’ runway beauty looks) with the thought of putting your favorite palette shades in a single pot. The result is nine neutral shadows that come in three finishes and can be worn alone for an easy everyday look, or together for a smoky eye.

My shade of choice is “Brav-o!,” a shimmery golden bronze. Tapping it on my eyelids with my finger brightens everything up, while two layers gives me a more intense shiny finish. The shadow never creases when I’ve been too lazy to put a primer on my oily lids — even when on days when I’ve had to run around to various meetings for work in 80 percent humidity.
