The Perspex Ponies at Chanel are something else

You’d be forgiven for thinking a ponytail is a ponytail, but not when we’re talking Sam McKnight and Chanel.

The couture house’s spring/summer 2018 show just wowed the fashion world (as per) and the plastic fantastic theme throughout extended beautifully to the hair, with legendary show stylist McKnight giving girls “Perspex Ponies”. Major.

His inventive take on a staple style involved Perspex tubes encasing the mid-lengths of lowly-secured ponytails, with frayed ends doused in drip-dry texture.

Not all models sported the statement ponies; those with bobs, for example, wore their hair tucked behind the ears (with a well weathered finish).

The make-up, by Tom Pecheux, centered on striking blue eye shadow and cherry-red lips, smashing beauty’s ‘either/or’ rule for next season.

Well if Chanel says it’s okay, it’s okay.
