Blake Lively Debuted a New Lob on the Red Carpet

Blake Lively's long blonde hair has undeniably been her trademark throughout her career. It's come to define characters like Gossip Girl's Serena van der Woodsen and has also stolen the show at countless red carpet events. Seriously, who could forget those glamourous, cascading Old Hollywood–style waves she rocked for the 2014 Met Gala?

But on Tuesday night, the hair icon revealed a decidedly new 'do we were not expecting.

While attending a Los Angeles screening of her new film, All I See Is You, Lively wore a crisp white dress and matching blazer, sparkly gold pumps, a bold red lip, and — brace yourselves — a shoulder-length lob haircut. Before you start planning a memorial service in honor of Lively's formerly mile-long, beachy strands, keep in mind that Vogue is hypothesizing that the "cut" is something of an illusion. The fashion mag reports that Tuesday night's seemingly drastic chop was actually a faux lob, with the rest of her hair tucked up somewhere underneath.

There's also the fact that, as recently as Tuesday afternoon, Lively was still in full possession of her waist-length waves. As Elle points out, the actress attended a press conference for the psychological thriller in Beverly Hills earlier that day, and was photographed with her long hair still intact. Additionally, the 30-year-old was recently spotted filming her next project, A Simple Favor, while wearing long braids, and will presumably need to refrain from lopping off her hair until she's finished with the film, for continuity's sake.

Whether it's real or not, you have to admit that Lively is totally pulling off the shorter 'do. Not only is the collarbone-skimming lob still the trendiest cut of the year, but it would undoubtedly be much easier for the mom of two to maintain day-to-day than her longer locks. Basically, Blake, if you do actually choose to make the leap and cut off a full foot of hair, we're here for you.
